Privacy policy
As of October 2026
1. Controller
Thomas Giehl, Buschfelder Weg 4, 50374 Erftstadt, Germany. Email: contact[a t]master-homeautomation.com
2. In short
This site presents a book. There is no contact form, no newsletter and no user accounts. Fonts and images are served from my own web space; no Google Fonts or other third-party services are loaded. Google Ads is only loaded if you explicitly agree.
3. Hosting and server log files
The site is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM - Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. When you visit, the server automatically stores data your browser sends: IP address, date and time, page requested, referrer, browser and operating system. This is technically necessary to deliver the site and fend off attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log files are deleted according to the host's retention rules. A data processing agreement is in place with the host.
The host creates anonymous access statistics from the log files (number of visits, pages viewed). They cannot be traced back to individuals.
4. Google Ads conversion measurement (only with consent)
If you agree in the banner, this site loads the Google tag from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. I use it to measure whether someone who clicked a Google ad goes on to Amazon. Cookies are set and data such as IP address, device information and click data are sent to Google, including to the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. Without consent, no Google code is loaded. You can withdraw consent at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the page. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage, not on my server.
5. Links to Amazon and GitHub
The buy buttons lead to Amazon, the companion link to GitHub. Only when you click a link do you leave this site, and the privacy policies of Amazon or GitHub apply. The Amazon links contain an identifier (Amazon Attribution) that tells Amazon the click came from this site. I only receive aggregated figures from Amazon, never data about individuals.
6. Email
If you write to me, I use your details only to answer your message (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once they are no longer needed.
7. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR), and the right to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia.
